Razzouk Ambassador
Seven centuries ago the Razzouk family were tattoo artists living in Egypt, then five centuries ago they moved from Egypt to Palestine. They initially came to Palestine for a pilgrimage but ultimately stayed for trade reasons. The family tradition of Tattooing using blocks began to take hold in Palestine.
Their ancestors used tattoos to mark Christian Copts in Egypt with a small cross on the inside of the wrist to grant them access to churches. Those without it would have difficulty entering the church; therefore, and from a very young age (sometimes even a few months old) Christians would tattoo their children with the cross identifying them as Copts. The First Ambassador
It was a great honor that I was invited to be a part of the Razzouk family’s 700 years of tradition. I’ve studied under Wassim Razzouk and tattooed the ancient Coptic Christian wood blocks and designs that have been used by his family for almost a millennia. These Christian tattoo designs originated in Egypt, and are still administered by Wassim Razzouk and guest tattoo artists like myself even today. Now, you don’t have to travel to Jerusalem to be a part of the tradition!

I am able to continue the tradition as an official ambassador of Razzouk Tattoo. I am the only licensed tattoo artist to use the Razzouk’s ancient Coptic block designs in the USA, and I am proud to carry on this legacy. Thank you again to the Razzouk Family for making me an unofficial member of the family, and an official member of the tattoo family with Marc Newton in the UK. I wish to continue to visit the shop in Jerusalem to further the history and tattooing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I hope my ability can further the amazing tradition the Razzouk Family created. The official design is in the slideshow to the left. Along with tattooing the Razzouk stamps, Vic Tamian creates and designs custom ancient Coptic styled tattoos that signify remarkable events within Christian history.
